Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to provide and improve the service:

• Account information — your name, email address and, if you sign up with a password, a securely hashed version of it (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture.
• Content you create — the text you enter into tools, the outputs generated for you, documents you save, captions, favorites and writing-style profiles you create.
• Usage information — which tools you use, when, word counts and credits consumed, used for your usage dashboard, plan limits, abuse prevention and service reliability.
• Billing information — when paid plans are available, payments are handled by our payment processors. We store your plan and subscription status, not your full card details.

Photos you upload to the Instagram tools are processed in memory to understand their content and are then discarded. They are not saved to your account or to our storage. Before analysis, images are re-encoded, which removes embedded metadata such as location data. A short text description of the image may be saved with your caption history so you can regenerate captions later.

• To provide the service: generate content, save your work and keep your account secure.
• To enforce plan limits and credits, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• To send essential account emails such as email verification and password resets.
• To understand aggregate product usage so we can improve WriteGen.

To generate content, the text (and, where you choose, images) you submit is sent to our AI model provider, Google (Gemini API), for processing. We send only what is needed to complete your request. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to advertise to you.

• Documents, captions, favorites and writing styles are kept until you delete them or close your account.
• Generation history is kept for 60 days and then deleted automatically.
• Single-use security links (verification and password reset) expire automatically.
• Usage records may be retained longer in aggregate form for billing and security purposes.

We share information only with providers that help us run the service, under appropriate safeguards:

• Cloud hosting and database providers that store your account and content.
• Google, as our AI model provider and, if you use it, as a sign-in provider.
• An email delivery provider for account emails.
• Payment processors (such as Stripe or Razorpay) once paid plans are available.

We may also disclose information when required by law.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your account, and local browser storage to remember interface preferences such as your sidebar layout, document view and in-progress drafts. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, single-use expiring security tokens, server-side authorization checks on every request and rate limiting. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

You can access and update your profile in Settings, delete individual documents, captions and styles at any time, and request deletion of your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights such as access, correction, portability or objection. Contact us at support@writegen-ai.com to exercise them.

WriteGen is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app.
